Archisman Ray Conferred with Desh Ratna Award 2025 for Excellence in Scientific Research and Cultural Legacy

New Delhi, April 29, 2025 — In a grand ceremony held at Mandi Auditorium, New Delhi, Archisman Ray was honored with the prestigious Desh Ratna Award 2025 for his outstanding contributions to the field of advanced battery research and for his dedication to preserving India's rich cultural heritage.

The event was organized jointly by the Bharati Yuva Welfare Association and the Tourism Department of Jammu & Kashmir, and witnessed the presence of eminent dignitaries including Uttar Pradesh Labour Minister Raghuraj Singh, senior BJP leader Shyam Jaju, OBC Morcha National Co-Incharge Vinay Chaudhary, and veteran film actors Surendra Pal Singh and Mustaq Khan.

Leading India’s Energy Research Frontier
Archisman Ray is currently an active researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur, where he is pursuing his PhD on novel electrode materials for next-generation rechargeable batteries. His work focuses on all-solid-state batteries, lithium-ion batteries, and sodium-ion batteries, with a special emphasis on in-situ microstructure evolution and 3D image reconstruction—a cutting-edge approach that holds transformative potential for the energy storage industry.

With over 13 years of research experience, Archisman has consistently demonstrated scientific excellence. He completed his Master’s in Chemical Engineering with distinction from the globally renowned University of Waterloo, Canada, under a full institute scholarship. In 2016, he achieved an All India Rank of 672 in the GATE examination for Chemical Engineering.

Beyond his academic achievements, Archisman also serves as the CEO of Brand Harakutir, a platform that preserves and promotes his family's 333-year-old cultural tradition—the Harakutir Ray-Banerjee Bari Durga Puja in Kolkata.
