Headmistress Kismat Dwivedi to Be Honored with National Icon Award at Prime Ministers’ Museum

In a proud moment for the education community of Uttar Pradesh, Kismat Dwivedi, the dedicated headmistress of Primary School Paigambarpur, Mahmoodabad, will be honored with the prestigious National Icon Award at a grand ceremony to be held at the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya (Prime Ministers’ Museum) on July 10.
Kismat Dwivedi’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. When she was promoted and posted as the headmistress in 2015, she arrived at a school that was in a state of utter neglect. Surrounded by heaps of garbage and filth, the school was almost uninhabitable. “It was hard to even sit inside the premises due to the unhygienic conditions,” she recalls.
Determined to bring about change, Dwivedi took the initiative into her own hands. Despite the challenge of finding workers willing to clean the area, she managed to convince a few laborers. She then used her personal funds to bring in 8 tractor-trolleys of soil to level and clean the grounds.
Her dedication went beyond infrastructure. With a sharp focus on improving the quality of education and discipline, she transformed the government school into a model institution. What once had only 130 students now boasts 240 enrolled learners in 2025. The academic standards, discipline, and environment have been raised to match that of private schools.
Today, Primary School Paigambarpur is not just clean and beautiful—it is recognized as one of the best schools in the block and district. The school stands as a shining example of what committed leadership and perseverance can achieve in the public education system.
In recognition of her extraordinary efforts and contribution to grassroots education, Kismat Dwivedi is being felicitated with the National Icon Award, a national-level honor celebrating individuals who have made a meaningful impact in their fields.
